In my capacity as a Mentor / Supervisor with iaPOETRY I believe in supporting a trainee on the wonderful journey of becoming a poetry therapy practitioner. My work with a trainee involves a uniquely tailored programme of learning that builds on the trainee’s own skills. I work with trainees in such a way that encourages creativity and the personal growth necessary for becoming a poetry therapy practitioner.
My clinical background as a psychotherapist enhances the quality of the mentor/ trainee relationship thus promoting an interactive, developmental process.

Theresa Kelly, PTP
My name is Theresa Kelly and I am an accredited Poetry Therapist Practitioner, accredited with iaPoetry, the International Academy for Poetry Therapy. As a Poetry Therapy Practitioner (PTP) I work with individuals and groups to help them access their creativity through poetry. This also helps them to uncover their inner strengths and to improve their general wellbeing. I also work as Psychotherapist and Supervisor, accredited with IAHIP and IACP. In my practice, based in Swords, Co. Dublin, I work principally from a Jungian perspective while being highly influenced by a person-centered approach to therapy. Some of the tools I use in my practice include working with mindfulness, dreams, fairytales, sand, poetry, EMDR and Bodydreaming. I see my role as facilitating the individual on their road to self-discovery in a safe and respectful way. I work with adults and adolescents on an individual and group basis. Carol Boland, PTP
Carol Boland is a qualified Poetry Therapy Practitioner. She has a BA. in Media Studies. and a BSc. in Psychotherapy and Counselling. She was the first fully qualified Poetry Therapy Practitioner (PTP) in Ireland, achieving her qualification through iaPoetry, the International Academy for Poetry Therapy. A past chairperson of IPTN, Carol facilitates "Self-Discovery Through Poetry" workshops online and face-to-face. She has published three books of poetry. Carol is proprietor of Boland Press.

Shelley Tracey, PTP

Dr Shelley Tracey, PTP is a published poet and writing facilitator who incorporates still and moving images into her practice, as well as poetry and prose. Shelley has worked with a range of individuals, groups and issues, including depression, learning differences, unpaid family carers, brain injury rehabilitation programmes, and autistic adults and young people.

I was a founding member of IPTN and held the role of Chair for a number of years.

María Ortega García, PTP

María Ortega García is a Poetry Therapy Practitioner accredited with iaPoetry and is currently training toward mentor/supervisor status. She serves as Programs & Practice Coordinator for iaPoetry and Secretary of IPTN, having previously served as Chairperson. María holds an MA in Philology, a BA in Humanities, along with a Diploma in trauma and mental health informed communities and schools.
She works bilingually in Spanish and English as a transdisciplinary educator and poetry therapy practitioner. She works with individuals and groups through her project "Poetics of Care," using poetry therapy, mindfulness, embodiment, and nature to foster increased well-being, mental and emotional clarity, and a deeper sense of interconnectedness. María also directs training and research with several universities and organisations and trains educators in trauma-informed education, using poetry therapy as a core tool.
